Top Safety Accreditation

GreenFish Consulting have been awarded accreditation
from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving
excellence in health and safety.

Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation
scheme which recognises very high standards in
health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

The company’s application for Safecontractor accreditation
was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the

“GreenFish Consulting have been aiding companies across
the UK since 2010.  We are proud of the client base we have
developed since the onset, but more so maintaining and
developing those relationships as time goes on.  Our
recent accreditation with Safe Contractor is a positive
stepping stone in proving to our new and existing clients
we take health and safety seriously, and we will always
take necessary steps to ensure our employees are
compliant when visiting our client’s sites.”

Stefano Cappuccini – Sales Director

Safecontractor accreditation will enhance the company’s
ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to
safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the
company liability policy is up for renewal.

Safecontractor is applicable to most sectors although it
is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property,
facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of
which are big users of contracted services.

John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said,
“Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk
of employing contractors who are not able to prove that
they have sound health and safety policies in place.”

“More companies need to understand the importance
of adopting good risk management in the way that
GreenFish has done. The firm’s high standard has
set an example which hopefully will be followed by
other companies within the sector.

Safecontractor plays a vital role in supporting our
clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working
with their contractors as they progress through the
accreditation process.”

ESOS Compliance being investigated!

Many qualifying companies are being investigated by the Environmental Agency for failing to comply with The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)

ESOS deadline for compliance was December 2015, it is a mandatory scheme for all large businesses in the UK, employing at least 250 employees or a turnover of over €50 million and a balance sheet in excess of €43 million.

The Environment Agency have the power to issue warnings and civil penalties.  A statement made by a spokeperson at the Environment Agency said “individual decisions regarding companies will be dealt with on a case by case basis”.  Enforcement teams have been set up to investigate non-compliant companies.  It may be wise for companies who are unsure of their status to check their positions under ESOS and consider their obligations.

Compliance audits of the DEC’s and energy audits submitted under ESOS by the complying companies are also being undertaken, and will continue until March 2017.  The majority of companies have pleasingly been found to be acceptable, although 65% of firms required slight tweaks to be fully compliant.

New Energy Efficiency improvement rules for Scottish Commercial Buildings now in force!

New rules requiring commercial property owners in Scotland to carry out certain energy efficiency improvements before they can sell or lease premises have come into force.

The regulations apply to commercial and public sector buildings with a floor area of more than 1000m² that are not constructed to 2002 building standards or later.  They require owners to 'assess' their carbon emissions and energy performance, and a plan on how they intend to reduce such like will need to be in place.  They will then have upto 42 months to carry out any recommended building improvements.  Alternatively they can choose to defer the improvements and instead report annual operational energy use through a Display Energy Certificate.

Similar rules comes into force in England and Wales on 1 April 2018.
