Welcome back to our first newsletter of 2013, bringing you the latest industry news, issues that we believe may effect you and to give you an update on our work. 

We have had a busy start to 2013, starting with a major commercial contract in London providing energy audits and DEC's.  We have also welcomed a new member to our team, Jamie Baldry who will be helping us continue our success.  

A quick overview into the industry!  The GreenDeal is finally available for all residential properties.  We have been watching the GreenDeal with interest and will continue to update everyone when there are further changes to this initiative.  As we covered in our last newsletter, the legislative changes have now come into effect reducing the size requirement for  public buildings to hold a Display Energy Certificate from 1000m² to 500m².  We at GreenFish have seen a significant uptake of Display Energy Certificates for our clients, due to the change in regulations!  If you have any enquiries, just call us on 01892 526 954. HCFC air conditioning gas phase-out due end 2014.

From January 2015 all air conditioning systems that use the R22 gas must be phased out. Whilst this is still two years away, it is anticipated that demand will outstrip supply in the latter part of 2014, so it may be worth considering your options earlier to get more flexibility & choice. Call us for advice.

EPC Legislation Changes from Jan 2013

From 9th January 2013 the regulations for Estate and Leasing agents have changed yet again!  It is now no longer a requirement to put the front page of the EPC into advertisements and lettings particulars, however, it has been replaced with a requirement to insert the asset rating from the EPC into any commercial media relating to a property, on-line, printed or displayed. Another major change to the regulations is all commercial buildings over 500m², who are frequently visited by the public will now have to publicly display their EPC.  However, businesses will not be forced to obtain an EPC if one is not already available.  Do these changes effect you?  If you would like any clarity on this new regulations feel free to contact us on 01892 526954 or Enquiries@greenfishconsulting.com

A Little More on Jamie!

After the success of our last apprentice Carl Cappuccini, we are proud to welcome a new member to our team! Jamie Baldry is our new apprentice working with Jennie in the Sales and Marketing department as well as studying an NVQ in Marketing at the local college one day a week. We hope to have the same success with Jamie as we did with Carl who is now a fully qualified energy assessor. 


Due to the Department for communities and local government (DCLG) increasing the cost of lodgement fee's for EPC's as of 6th April 2013, we regret to inform you our fee's will also be slightly increasing in the short term future.  However, we would like to assure you our price increase to the EPC's will be kept to an absolute minimum and we feel our prices are still very competitive for the level of quality we provide to all of our clients.

Our accrediting body, Elmhurst have expressed their surprise and disappointment of the increased prices and have protested against them, putting across the point that the notice period they have given people is inadequate because it means that companies will have to update there processes, amend prices and apply these changes to ongoing work. DCLG have reasoned for the changes to lodgement fees are due to the number of fees being lodged are not meeting the requirements to operate the lodgement registers. The price rising also means that the DCLG/government will not have to rely on tax payers to help cover the cost.

The GREEN DEAL is finally here!
The Green Deal initiative is a government funded scheme which was set up to allow home owners to install more green technologies in their properties. The idea is to set up Green technology with no upfront cost, the cost of these products will be added on to your energy bills and paid off over a period of time. This will not be a personal loan as such, for when you move out of the property the charges do not follow you, they stay attached to that property. We currently have 3 in house assessors currently training as Green Deal assessors.
