At GreenFish Consulting work is continuing to grow, including major new commercial deals for schools and doctor's surgeries, plus a significant increase in auditing residential properties under the ECO (Energy Company obligation) scheme.

Building Regs Part L Update
The government has finally unveiled the long-awaited changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, covering the energy efficiency of new non-domestic buildings and homes, Building magazine summed the lengthy waiting period as “after a gestation period worthy of a blue whale”. So what is new;
Back in January 2012, when the Government consulted on the new proposals, two options were primarily considered; a 20% reduction and an 11% reduction on the current figures and outline ‘notional building’ plans were proposed, showing how these changes should be met. Fast forward to August 2013 and what is laid down is a 9% reduction, which is a significant deviation from the initial proposals, and leaves the industry with no outline ‘notional building’ plans relating to this reduction. The final approved documents and impact assessment are due later this summer and will hopefully shed more light on how these proposals are to be implemented in practice.

Schools Project Launched
At GreenFish we are pleased to announce that we have won a major contract to carry out energy assessments at 200 schools and that these works are already underway.
We have a track record of winning major energy assessment contracts for a wide range of commercial companies, including; British Land, Lloyds, BP, HMV and many others, plus public contracts for London Borough's and schools.

Doctors Surgeries Energy Audits
We are delighted to be asked to carry out work for the NHS West Kent Primary Care Trust; carrying out energy audits and certification for Doctor's surgeries within the region.
Smaller public buildings now need certification following the legislation changes earlier in the year when the size of properties requiring certification was reduced from 1000 SqM to 500 SqM. This legislation has affected all public bodies.

Mark Leonard
With increasing work from our clients, we have recruited another new member to our team, Mark Leonard.
Mark is our new energy assessor working with Carl Cappuccini in our survey and consulting team. He has a background in engineering and customer service, and is already assisting us with energy audits and 3d modelling for commercial sites.
We believe Mark is a real asset for GreenFish.

Eco Scheme Funding Takes Off
The Eco funding scheme from the government is taking off in large numbers, whereby energy companies provide residential customers with free upgrades to insulation and qualifying homes can get a new free boiler delivered and installed.
The first step is for the home to be surveyed and energy assessed, at GreenFish we are providing large numbers of these surveys each week.
